She is refereed to as a ghost because even though she is not around, people still acknowledge her existence. I believe she shouldn't be called a ghost for a mistake she has committed and felt really bad about. I do sympathize with her because she made a mistake by hurting her own daughter, and felt so bad that she did she ran away. It was a mistake that happened by accident but her mom and sister harshly judged her for it.

An-mei’s mother was considered a ghost because she was either not there with An-Mei emotionally or physically. I don't think she deserves to be called a ghost because Ane-Mei's mother was a strong but sorrowful woman who was tricked into becoming the fourth wife of Wu Tsing. So, I do sympathize with her because she tried to be a good mother by telling An-Mei to hide her feelings because not everyone is nice, and she committed suicide to protect An-Mei from shame and unhappiness.

An-Mei mother was considered a ghost because she was a person her grandmother didnt want to hear about or want her to think about. Being called a ghost could I assume make one feel nonexistent. With that being said no I dont think she should called a ghost, maybe a bad mother.Yes, I sympathize because her mother mightve been young and not fully matured as a person to even raise her kids.

An-Mei's mother is considered a ghost because she went off to live with a man when An-Mei was only 4yrs old popo had not let them even mention her. Making her forget her mother in a matter of a few years. After 5 years she visits because popo was very sick. I don't think An-Mei's mother deserved to be called a ghost because in life people go through things that have to be done and for her to come back and cut a piece of her skin showing a sign of respect proves that nothing was done to hurt her children. I defiantly do feel bad for An-Mei's mother because i can tell she regrets hurting her children the way she did.
